Membership Requirements
Candidates who successfully complete all designation requirements become Certified Senior Advisors (CSAs).
The Society of Certified Senior
Advisors®(SCSA) ensures that CSAs uphold the standards of the CSA Code of Professional Responsibility (monitored and enforced by the CSA Board of Standards), fulfill requirements for
continuing education, and continue to learn about important
issues facing seniors. Membership in SCSA benefits all CSAs and supports the integrity
of the designation.
There are three requirements for renewing your CSA designation:
- Complete the Annual Renewal Statement
- Submit the Annual Renewal Fee
- Fulfill the recertification requirement of 18 CSA CE credits every
three years
Completing the Annual Renewal Statement
Every year you will need to complete a
CSA Membership Renewal Statement.
This statement includes questions involving any legal or regulatory issues that
have come up in connection with your business practices over the past year. It confirms
there have been no changes in your status since you first became a CSA. The Statement
underscores the ongoing responsibility that all CSAs have to conduct their business
legally and ethically.
Submitting the Annual Renewal Fee
The regular annual membership renewal fee is $195.
If you renew upon receipt of your
first notice, however, you pay only $179.
To recertify their designation, all CSAs must complete 18 CSA CE credits every three
years. Several options are available for earning these credits, including:
- Critical Issues in Aging Courses...these three online modules introduce ethical aspects of topics introduced in the CSA designation course: Supporting Seniors’ Personal Health Care Decisions (Health), A New Approach to the Challenge of Financing Longer Life (Financial), and Quality Caregiving: Making Ethical Choices throughout Life (Social). Courses may be taken individually or as a group.
- CSA CE Ethics Courses . . .three online courses present members with real-life situations to analyze, fostering a deeper understanding of ethical issues that specifically apply to decision-making, communicating, marketing and selling to seniors:
- Ethics in Selling to Seniors
- Maximizing Integrity in Decisions with Seniors
- Effective and Ethical Communication with Seniors
For an additional fee, CSA CE ethics courses are available for state life and health (L&H) insurance CE, CPE, CFP and PACE.
- CSA CE Volunteering for Seniors... enables you to gain a broader understanding of seniors’ issues and the organizations available to help them.
